John Michaelz

People in NZ first started to notice John Michaelz in the late 80's when word began spreading around the country about a Tauranga band called Hard To Handle which left a solid mark on the country's blues/rock scene. John has since toured throughout NZ, Australia, UK, USA & Iceland, toured as support act with Renee Geyer, won Battle of the Bands, co wrote with Derek Jacobs from Kokomo & many others, recorded with many NZ bands including Shona Laing, played at the Tauranga Jazz and Blues festival and many other festivals throughout NZ... and been nominated for a Tui Award!

I’ve been in numerous projects spanning over 30 years in Canada, Australia, and here in New Zealand.
Solo, Duo, and bands are all on the table at the moment.

Audiophysical; atmosphere, texture, tone, and polyrhythmic beats weave a tapestry of sound to get deep with. Andre Lamb has spent a decade doing so and released a number of tunes into the wild via european indy labels and online platforms.
Hiperbole Records (DE), Deja Tunes (DE) and Millennium Jazz Music (UK) have put out Audiohysical's music alongside self released material over the years.

Dub, Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Soul, Bass and Breaks make the mixture and set off the sonics in any piece found in the discography to date. Inspired by meditative instrumentals and dusty analogue vibes, Lamb has ingested the past century of recorded music and distilled this aural palette to his tastes though his playing, modern and vintage technology and a need to communicate.
A traveller of the mind, body and soul, the music speaks without lyrics.

A fresh LP in the works and upcoming live gigs in the southern hemisphere see Audiophysical bringing his work to fruition with a new maturity and marked improvisational element focussing on performance.

"Relaxed, complex and crackling with synaptic sweeteners and saturated with seductive atmospherics Audiophysical delivers a bubbling broth of cool downtempo jazz seasoned with a savory dose of dubwise." BC Musician magazine (CAN)

Derrin Richards

Hey, I'm Derrin, and my guitar time is divided between performing, practising, writing and teaching.
I have been playing guitar for over 30 years, though I took most of the 1990s off to focus on a non-guitar career (which didn't work out at all!).
Like anybody who learns an instrument, my relationship with the guitar has had some highs, and some lows: the successes have been amazing, but the endless slog to improve - or even maintain - your abilities and musicality can wear you down from time to time.
So, that's it, really: I'm hooked on guitar, and no longer feel the need to apologise for that; I'm always, always learning, and pushing myself to express myself better on this amazing instrument; and I'm mad about teaching and sharing my excitement for what anybody can achieve on the instrument with time, effort and focus.
