Alcohol Ink - Objet D'Art

With Marion Aitken

This full day course will teach you the basics of alcohol ink.  A fun class where you will make a clock face, and then put the clock together, along with painting a candle and a black pot with white and gold accents.  Alcohol ink has a mind of its own but is a fun medium to use and the students take home their finished artwork after each session. This class is designed particularly for beginners who have never used alcohol inks before.  Marion is an artist who loves to use alcohol inks for various ways of producing amazing artwork. Together with gold accents, you will be painting pots and candles as well as looking at a myriad of other uses.  The inks have a versatility and vibrancy that when blended with pure isopropyl alcohol, create movement and beautiful abstract designs. With the addition of gold enhancements these make visually attractive pieces of art even for beginner

He's a master craftsman of clay, water colour, occasionally wood carving and recently the art of bespoke shoe making.

Alcohol ink has a mind of its own but is a fun medium to use and the students take home their finished artwork after each session. Learning how to transfer a drawing onto yupo paper and learning to paint with the inks.  Tutor will provide all materials so that students take home an A3 finished portrait.

 

Marion is an artist who loves to use alcohol inks for various ways of producing amazing artwork. Together with gold accents, they can be used for abstract work, or painting as you would with watercolours. The inks have a versatility and vibrancy that when blended with pure isopropyl alcohol, create movement and beautiful designs. Developing Faces Portraiture Workshop

Mixed Media Portituire

This portrait drawing course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience in drawing. In a relaxed supportive environment, you will learn some simple skills capturing likeness and bringing the subject to life by the size, shape and placement of key features.

Xmas Wreath Workshop

1. We will be making scandi xmas wreath If you finish quickly you may make more.

2. We will be making xmas named tags from leaves to take home. These are also great with positive affirmations.

 

You will go home with a hands full of beautiful foliage.  You will make your own wine glass name tag from nature. I encourage you to make your Xmas presents this year. Stay away from the coated plastic Xmas wraps and plastic bows. Not only are they ugly and a waste of money they are no good for the environment. Cold Wax - Painting the Cool Way 

Weekend Classes

An amazing half-day workshop to explore what cold wax is really made of, how to use it and what NOT to do with it. Learn what rules you can break when using cold wax, and what special benefits (namely, amazing texture) come with this medium. See what kind of paints you should reach for and discover the simple tools you will need.

Fundamentals of Painting - Saturday

One Day Workshops

This is an inspiring and productive One Day workshop for all levels of experience. Available for working in Oil or acrylic.  Beginners are welcome. A fun time set in a chilled out relaxed and creative environment. Learn something new and then build on it. This course will be based on traditional painting techniques with some contemporary approaches applied to the genre. As well as covering a lot of ground, equally the focus will be on developing a solid understanding of colour theory, tonal relationships, proportion, and composition. Progressing to use these ideas to develop believable 3d forms on a 2d surface.

Learning to Use Alcohol Inks

Alcohol ink has a mind of its own but is a fun medium to use, and this full day workshop is designed particularly for beginners who have never used alcohol inks before. Have a go at a tile which is relatively easy but something that could be done for Xmas presents.  You start off as abstract and then fill in the background and end up with a stunning flower pattern. This can be framed if you want.  You will also be working on a black pot and a white pot. Thus you will go home with three exceptional artworks.

Resin Fever

With Svetlana Spectra

Everything you need to know for working with resin as a medium. Svetlana will cover health and safety, adding colours, lancing and other tips. Demonstrations will help with working on creating your own masterpiece.  Svetlana’s resin art has a multitude of layers infused with acrylic paints, alcohol ink, mineral pigments and glowing powder to give the painting a three dimensional look and depth. These pieces can glow in the dark for up to eight hours.

Macrame Workshops

Tori Landon - Evarose & Co

Come and learn the art of Macramé with Tori from Evarose+Co.  Her classes full up very fast as the spaces are very limited to be able to give everyone time one-on-one.  Join in and create that special one-off piece. The last workshop sold out in a few days. Costs will depend on the project.

 

You'll learn the basics of knot making, tips & tricks, and create your own wall hanging, shoulder bag or wreath depending on the project for the day.  Take an amazing hand made item home or as a gift for a loved one. No experience is needed, and all materials are supplied. You will be working with beautiful NZ-made cotton cord (for some workshops - Tori will supply coloured cord)
