Community Christmas Trees 2021

Since 2018 The Incubator Creative Hub has worked with Tauranga City Council to deliver a Christmas tree project where the community comes together to participate and celebrate creativity and showcase their organisations.

These huge distinctive trees have been designed by Māori artist Ashleigh Luckman-Taupaki with kowhaiwhai patterns representing the Pohutukawa New Zealand Christmas tree.

Each year we invite community groups, art societies, schools and organisations to participate in a group workshops to paint and embellish the adornment discs which will go on your tree.  Your tree will  be sign-written with your organisation name and featured in the Historic Village as part of 'Christmas in the Village' at the Historic Village Tauranga.

These trees will be formally celebrated at the Village Christmas night market on the 3rd December and on show until early in the New Year.

How it all happens:

Get your team together and pick a date to visit one of our workshops. We provide everything - the paints and brushes and the cool vibe in the Incubator barn which is located in the Historic Village. While you are here your group can explore the great galleries and exhibitions and other great spots in the Village.

We need you to think about a theme that represents your group and we will set you up in advance with the colours and samples of designs or you can use your own.  We will have one of our team here to help you achieve great results.

If access to the Village is a problem we can organise paint packs and tutors to come to you - you will need to liaise with us about an appropriate time and date .

All discs will need to be complete and returned by 21st November .
