Collaborating with local artists, individuals with dementia will work on artistic projects to be showcased at The Incubator Gallery. The exhibition will also highlight works made by the clients, themselves thus emphasizing the therapeutic and cognitive advantages in Art.
Tauranga, with its aging population, faces a growing number of individuals affected by Alzheimer's disease and dementia. The local Alzheimer’s Society strives to enhance functioning and alleviate distress associated with the condition. Art has proven to be beneficial for individuals with dementia, promoting mindfulness, cognitive stimulation, and an improved quality of life.
This project has enabled individuals living with dementia to:
· Develop cognitively stimulating creative skills
· Improve their quality of life
· Find a sense of purpose
