Painting the Portrait from Life

Immerse yourself in the art of portraiture with artist and expert guide, Damien Kurth. In this full day workshop, participants will learn to transform a blank canvas into a captivating likeness. Damien will guide artists through the essential fundamentals of painting from life, unlocking the secrets to capturing not just features, but the unique character of the subject.

The morning will begin with a quick but focused rundown on proportions, tone, and colour using a reference image. Then, it's straight into a live portrait session—working from one sustained pose from a model. Both oils and acrylics will be available to use, and Damien will break down which works best for short to medium poses.
