About the event
Presented by The Incubator Creative Hub, join us at the Village Community Cinema for our 2024 season of
PICTURE THIS - The Inspiration Behind The Creation.
In this series, artists share with us, the film that has influenced or inspired their artistic practice, analytically reflecting on their work in correlation with their chosen film.
Limbo - that time spent hovering between things, neither here nor there, a time of waiting and uncertainty.
This beautiful film has an incredibly deep heart, a wealth of quirky characters and stunningly bleak Scottish landscapes. With a clever mix of humour, drama, tragedy and social and political commentary, we watch and wait alongside a group of refugees for their new lives to begin. Limbo initiates conversations about the concept of home, the human condition and the vulnerabilities that are part and parcel of being a creative.
Local artist Shona Mackenzie invites you to join her for a screening of this remarkable film and gain an insight into the how, what and why of her art making. Shona will share her story, delve deep into her practice and discuss the relevance Limbo has to her work and life.
Come join us for an evening with all the feels!
