Step right up to the ultimate age-defying photo showdown!
The Incubator Creative Hub and Tauranga City Council present a photography competition that breaks down the walls of ageism, tears down stereotypes and shines a spotlight on our senior stars in a fabulously stylish way.
With nine themes to spark your creativity, snap those vibrant and lively older people (65+)
doing their thing with flair and vitality.
Your photographs will showcase the beauty of aging with dignity and visibility and become empowering examples of growing older with mana.
Whether you're clicking away on your phone or going pro with studio setups, we want your colourful shots to rock our world, within our guidelines, so mind the fine print!
The cherry on top? Twenty selected images will bask in the limelight at an outdoor exhibition on the Strand Tauranga from the 1st of October for a fabulous 4 week run.
As Mark Twain said "Age is a mind over matter, if you don't mind age doesn't matter."
Join us in celebrating International Older Persons Day with The Incubator’s Old is the New Black photo competition and exhibition on The Strand!
This vibrant community-led initiative invites everyone to showcase the exciting and colourful lives of older individuals (65+). Capture the joy of grandparents with their grandchildren, active volunteers, and those embracing passions. Let’s come together to honor and highlight the beauty of aging through fun and heartfelt photography!
There are no limitations to the subject matter, share your favourite photographic shots of older people. Open to all ideas, all styles, and genres, all perspectives on craftsmanship and photographic creativity. This is an opportunity for street, portraiture, lifestyle, documentary, conceptual, colour and black and white.
Join us on The Strand, where 20 stunning photographs are showcased in
our Light Boxes. This year, we are excited to print a booklet that features
all entries, celebrating the beauty and creativity of our wonderful “olders.” By extending the competition beyond the exhibited works, we aim to promote a more positive perception of aging and highlight the artistic contributions of older individuals. Don't miss this to experience creativity
in a whole new light!
Join us in celebrating the vibrant spirit our older community with our latest exhibit on The Strand! Featuring eye-catching light boxes, this installation offers a fun and creative perspective on our older population. Come experience this unique showcase, which will be on display for at least a month, kicking off our exciting six-month series of exhibitions. Don't miss the opportunity to appreciate the stories and contributions of our elders!

We will have a very extensive and comprehensive communication and marketing plan; this year we will go out to more Retirement homes and schools. We will work with our supporters Tauranga City Council over the promotion of the festival which includes the Photograph competition, and to use the providers databases to promote the event. Working with the local media will also be important.

The festival will begin Wednesday 1 October with the launch to coincide with The International Day of the Older Persons and will run until the end of October.
