Our team
Band & Deliver -Youth band initiative
Special Projects Feature:
Sometimes, someone just has to open the door to artists, to allow them to flourish. Band & Deliver, opens the door to a room of musical marvels. If you want to remember what it was like when you fell in love with a band for the first time, this is where that happens.
This series features local college/youth/rangatahi bands and performers, some who are performing on stage for the first time.
Driven so far by enthusiastic volunteers from the local music scene, it has also been supported with great generosity from Tauranga Jazz Festival and Creative Communities NZ and of course the Incubator Creative Hub.
So far we have seen 9 artists or bands, and attracted an audience of hundreds. The energy is high, the enthusiasm and wonderment are infectious and the sheer joy is evident.
The name Band & Deliver, comes from the 1981 tune Stand & Deliver by Adam And The Ants. The song hit the charts in the post-punk era, when anybody could do anything, thus making the charts a wild and exciting place at the time.
Given its heritage, our performers certainly weren’t around then, but they have (perhaps unwittingly) embraced the concept and really have delivered music and excitement that pays homage to that magical time.
We aim to have the artists and their community running and manning the events themselves while attracting more and more people to play, perform, manage and MC.
